Schief, William D. (23 OCT 1891 – 17 JUN 1970)

Services for William D. Schief, 78, Medford, who died Wednesday of an apparent heart attack, were held Saturday afternoon with Medford, with the Reverence Henry Bahrenburg of the United Methodist Church officiating. Masonic memorial services were held Friday night.

Mr. Schief was born at Abbotsford (Clark Co., Wis.) October 23, 1891, and received his education in the Medford schools. He had been a barber for 65 years, many of these years being spent in partnership with his father, the late Ernest Schief. He had been in retirement for the past several years, and semi-retirement since 1963, when the barber shop was sold to Walter Ertl.

He was married at Rib Lake November 3, 1913 to Hazel Hanifen, who survives him.

Other survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Audrey Blue, Grand Rapids, Michigan; six grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; three brothers, Harry Schief, Grand Rapids, Dr. Glendon Schief, Thorp, and Dr. Alvin Schief, Dorchester, and a sister, Mrs. Rose Hoekstra, Grand Rapids.
