Stamp, Harold J. “Harry” (30 OCT 1966 – 18 NOV 2017)

Harold J. Stamp, 51, Marshfield, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 18, 2017, after a two-year battle with cancer, surrounded by the love of his family. A memorial and celebration of his life is scheduled for noon on Dec. 17, at Marshfield Fairgrounds Junior Expo Building, 513 East 17th St. Terry Wasti will officiate the ceremony. Honorary pallbearers will be Shawn, Kurt, Chad, Leo, Eric, Chip, Tim, Tom, Jeff, Greg and DuWayne. Food and refreshments will be served after the ceremony. Plans are being made for around the Fourth of July for spreading his ashes in Brantwood. The family will honor his military service in a small ceremony. More information will be available next year.

Harold James “Harry” Stamp was born to Larry and Anne (nee Kauffman) Stamp on Oct. 30, 1966, in Dowagiac, Mich. He was a graduate of Greenwood High School. He married Nicole Anderson in 2001 and they lived in Marshfield. Together they were raising two children. Prior to moving to Marshfield, Harry lived in Germany with his first wife, Gitta Stamp, and their two children. Harry adored spending time outdoors with his four children: Jamie Stamp (25), Steffen Stamp (21), Cole Stamp (14), and Nickolas Stamp (13). He enjoyed sharing his passions of hunting, fishing, camping and four-wheeling with his children and his family. Another great passion for Harry was finding a great deal, and repurposing items. He was into “upcycling” before it became a trend. You would often find him hunting for a good deal at garage sales or auctions on weekends. He enjoyed working on these projects with his kids. During his working career, Harry wore many hats. As Specialist Stamp, he served his country as a combat engineer for the United States Army for six years and seven months, including serving in Desert Storm to support U.S. military efforts. His highest award was the Army Commendation Award. He also served in the Wisconsin Army National Guard for one and a half years. After serving in the military, Harry joined Michel’s Corporation where he worked as a heavy machine operator for 20 years. He loved his job working with heavy machinery, and the time spent with his “work family” at Michel’s.

Harry is survived by his parents, Larry and Anne Stamp, and three siblings who will cherish his memory: Deb, Allen and Sandy. Harry was much-loved by his wife’s family, father Harold Anderson, mother Judith (Wasti) Anderson and sister Liisa, along with a brother-in-law, DuWayne Krause. Nicole’s parents Harold and Judith thought of him as their own son. He was beloved by nieces and nephews: Lauren, Justin, Katie, Jessica, Samantha, Matthias, Trent and Piper.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Joe and Dorothy Stamp and John and Kathryn Kauffman.

Memories of his wonderful spirit, great sense of humor and profound kindness will help those who loved Harry carry on. He will always be remembered for the twinkle in his bright blue eyes and beautiful smile.

The family would like to offer thanks for the care of Harry to Ministry Home care. Their support was invaluable to the success in making Harry’s last wishes fulfilled. The family would also offer special thanks to Dr. Leon for his compassionate care of Harry. Dr. Leon is an incredible doctor who showed our family the love and kindness that fills his soul.
