Trachsel, James Arthur (25 January 1935 – 17 May 2017)

James A. Trachsel, 82, of Humbird passed away at his home Wednesday evening, May 17, 2017.

James Arthur Trachsel, son of Fredrick and Mildred (Anderson) Trachsel, was born Jan. 25, 1935. He was a lifelong resident of the village of Humbird, where he was baptized and confirmed at the United Church of Christ, attended elementary, and high school, and graduated from Alma Center High School. He was united in marriage to Darleen Barka April 28, 1956, at the E.U. B. Church in Augusta.

For 23 years, Jim worked in the fire protection area with the Conservation Department/DNR. He then worked six years with the Jackson County Iron Mine in Black River Falls. Upon its closing, he purchased a dump truck, and for the next 17 years, he was an owner/operator working in the truck division with Mathy Construction out of Amery. After selling the truck he worked another five years for the company as a parts runner. This, being seasonal employment, gave him the opportunity during the winter months to operate his car repair, and blacksmithing shop in Humbird.

Jim had always enjoyed being a part of his children’s lives; helping with Boy Scouts, and attending as many of their functions as he could. Due to failing health during his retirement years, he couldn’t participate in things like he would have liked.

Jim will be dearly missed by Darleen, his wife of 61 years; three sons, Boyd (Sherri) Amherst, Bruce (Brenda) of Fall Creek, Robyn (Shari) of Fairchild; daugher Holly (Michael) Kuzba Marshfield; brother, Fred (Ramona) of Rochester; eight grandchildren: Bridgett (Jeremiah) Raine, Brock (Stacy) Trachsel, Benjamin (Laura) Trachsel, Billie Jo (Zackary) Stephens, Jessica Trachsel (Jon Jaeger), Issac Trachsel, Tayelor Kuzba (Jim Daniel), Briann Kuzba; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents.

A visitation was held Monday, May 22, 2017, at the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta. Services were held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the United Church of Christ in Humbird, with Rev. Pat Trotter officiating. Burial was in the Mentor Cemetery, rural Humbird.
