Brandt, Rosalie “Rose” H. (Whipple) (6 FEB 1937 - 25 DEC 2017)

Rosalie “Rose” H. Brandt, 80, of Medford, passed away on Monday, Dec. 25, 2017 at House of Dove Hospice House in Marshfield, where she had resided for the past five days.

A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 29 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Medford with Father David Neuschwander officiating. Visitation will be at Hemer Funeral Home in Medford from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 28, where there will be a 7 p.m. Catholic prayer service held that evening, and also from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.

Interment will take place at Medford Evergreen Cemetery II. Pallbearers will be Derick Neitzel, David and Austin Brandt, Kyle Schilling, William and Nathan Bertsinger, Max Hedrington, Jake Sackmann and Carl Cynor.

Rose was born on Feb. 6, 1937 in Stratford to the late Isabelle (Rogers) and Ira Merchant Whipple. She attended Chili Elementary Schools in Clark County.

On Jan. 14, 1956 in Chili she married Harold W. Brandt and he preceded her in death March 19, 1996. After their marriage, they farmed in the Chili area from 1957-1969 when they moved to the town of Hammel. They owned and operated the Highview Inn from 1969-1985. She then cooked at Florena’s, Miracle Mile Diner and Medford High School for periods of time. Then she owned and operated the Rose Garden in Dorchester until her retirement in 1996. She enjoyed gardening, playing cards, reading, crocheting, cooking, fishing and spending time with her grandchildren and family. She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Medford.

Rose is survived by her children, Harold R. “Butch” (Lori) Brandt, Susan (Lonnie) Smith, Sandra (Robert) Schilling, Steven (Suzy) Brandt, Alan (Gina) Brandt, William “Bill” Brandt and Edward (Karen) Brandt, all of Medford, Patricia (Jeff) Neitzel of Curtiss and Scott (Cassandra) Brandt of Gilman; her beloved dog, Dusty; 16 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a brother, Ronald Whipple of Crowley, Texas; a brother-in-law, Elmer Steltenpohl of Marshfield; sisters-in-law, Carol Whipple of Downers Grove, Ill. and Eldora Whipple of Minneapolis, Minn.

In addition to her parents and husband, Rose was preceded in death by a daughter, Maria Motte in 2011; five brothers and four sisters.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be given to the family for a future designation.
