Gospodar, John J. “Bubber” (29 AUG 1925 - 1 JAN 2018)

John J. “Bubber” Gospodar, 92 of Stanley, died Monday, January 1, 2018 at Wisconsin Veteran’s Home-Chippewa Falls.

He was born on August 29, 1925 in Stanley the son of the late Stephen and Antonia “Edna” (Stanek) Gospodar. John grew up in Stanley and graduated from high school.

He went on to serve his country in the Navy during WWII and was one of the brave that fought at Iwo Jima. He returned to Stanley and was a state Auditor for the State of Wisconsin. On June 23, 1952 he married Shirley Mae LeDuc at St. Mary’s Catholic Church-Stanley.

The couple enjoyed spending time at the family cabin on Chain Lake. Bubber was a proud member of Stanley VFW Post #2711 for many years.

He is survived by his children, Steve (LaRayne) Gospodar, Jim (Laure) Gospodar and Kathy Gospodar, 5 grandchildren, Colynn (Emily) Auberg, Grant (Korina) Auberg, Ivan (Ashley) Gospodar, Natalie (John) DiVelbiss and Lisa (Travis) Dettinger and 9 great grandchildren, Daneian, Ryker, Landon, Bella, Easton, Fletcher, Zac, Abi and Gabe, and a niece Kathie (Harry) Hoffman and a nephew, Bill (Holly) Moore.

John is preceded in death by his wife, Shirley (2008), his parents, brothers, Richard and Robert and sisters, Mary Jane Moore and Virginia Mudgett.

A funeral service will be held at 11:30 AM on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at the Plombon Funeral Home-Stanley with Father William Felix officiating.

Burial will follow at Holy Family Catholic Cemetery with military rites.

Visitation will be Saturday morning from 10:30 until time of service.
