Halopka, Daryl Paul (9 JAN 1953 - 14 JAN 2018)

Daryl Paul Halopka, age 65, of Dorchester, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 14, 2018, at the Marshfield Medical Center.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 19, 2018, at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Milan. Father George Graham will preside. Family and friends are welcome from 4 until 7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 18, at Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford and from 10 a.m. until the time of service Friday at the church.

Daryl was born on Jan. 9, 1953, the son of Eugene and Marge (Sperl) Halopka in Wausau. He graduated from Colby High School in 1972. Daryl worked for Phillips Plastics in Medford for 22-1/2 years.

Daryl was united in marriage to Karen Wehrman on Oct. 3, 1979. They later divorced. He was united in marriage to Bonnie Blume on Jan. 20, 1998. He enjoyed hunting, playing cards, going to the casino and drawing. He was most passionate about teaching hunters education, which he taught for 20 years, and Same Difference Disabled Hunt which he helped for five years. Most importantly, Daryl cherished his family.

Daryl is survived by his wife, Bonnie of Dorchester; his daughter, Sara (William) Wolf; three step-children, Allen (Jan Sapinski) Blume, Amanda (Brian) Pupp and Andrea (Michael) Gray; three grandchildren, Alexis Steger, Zoey Wolf and Scott Wolf; eight step-grandchildren, Zachary Blume, Benjamin Blume, Elijah Blume, Keirra Pupp, Kailani Gray, Korina Gray, Kendall Pupp and Kaeda Gallistel. He is further survived by 11 brothers and sisters, Gary (Sue) Halopka of Dorchester, Darla (Chuck) Stuttgen of Milan, Gene (Nona ) Halopka of Medford, Jim (Marlene) Halopka of Medford, Linda (Edward) Beyerl of Medford, Brian (Amy) Halopka of Dorchester, Todd Halopka of Dorchester, Kurt (Mary Hoffman) Halopka of Dorchester, Pam (Brad) Wolf of Dorchester, Steve (Beverly) Halopka of Colby and Terry (Colleen) Halopka of Milan; three aunts and one uncle, Shirley Kleist, Anne Gebauer, Donna Seidel and Ken Sperl; numerous nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife; and aunts, uncles, nephews and a sister-in-law.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to his two favorite causes: North Central Wisconsin Hunter Education Association or Same Difference Disabled Hunt.
