Metz, David J. (26 MAR 1943 - 21 JAN 2018)

David J. Metz, 74, of Sheboygan, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 21, 2018 at Progressive Care Center in Sheboygan. A private family service will be held.

David was born on March 26, 1943 on the family homestead in Taylor County to George and Esther (Janke) Metz. He graduated from Medford High School with the class of 1961. Following high school, he joined the US Air Force proudly serving from 1961-1965 during the Cuban Missile Crisis.

On Dec. 28, 1963 he was united in marriage to Marilyn Fierke. She preceded him in death on Oct. 28, 2014.

David was a tour bus driver for Discovery Chartered Coaches. He enjoyed music, motorcycles, playing sheepshead, cars, tractors and he had a dry sense of humor.

David is survived by his three sons, Douglas (Shane) Metz of Nashville, Tenn., Michael Metz of Sheboygan and Stephen (Tina) Metz of Oostburg; grandchildren, Jessica (Daniel) Quasius, Jessica Plate, Michael Metz, Nicholas Frye, Natalie Plate, Abby Frye, Alex Bahn and Sam Metz; great-grandchildren, Anakin Quasius and Bailey Brown. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents and wife, David was preceded in death by his daughters, Jennifer Jindra and Donna Walsh-Frye and his brother, Alan Metz.

The family would like to express a special thank you to Dr. Hancock, Dr. Nora, the staff at Sheboygan Progressive Care Center and the Staff at Aurora Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center for all their care, comfort and support.
