Matter, Betty Jane (18 MAR 1942 – 12 FEB 2018)

Betty Jane Matter (Hebert), age 75, of Spencer passed away on Monday, February 12, 2018 at her residence, surrounded by her family and under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.

Her funeral service will be held at 11AM on Friday, February 16, 2018 at Christ Lutheran Church in Marshfield. Rev. Mark Krueger will officiate. Burial will be in West Spencer Cemetery in the Town of Sherman. Family and friends are invited to gather on Thursday at Life Tributes funeral home in Spencer from 4PM until 7PM and again on Friday at the church from 10AM until the time of services. The honor of pallbearer belongs to her son Randy Matter, her brother Jeffrey Hebert and her grandsons Joshua Stargardt, Travis Matter, Sam Nigon, Travis Oestreich, Anthony Hederer and Jacob Dodge. The honorary pallbearers are her great grandsons Jaden Stargardt, Keyan Oestreich and Colten Walters.

Betty was born on March 18, 1942 in Neillsville, the daughter of Donald and Mary Jane (Glasby) Hebert. She was a graduate of Spencer High School. Betty married DuWayne G. Matter on August 13, 1960.

She worked at Pathfinder Homes sewing drapes and seasonally at Figi's Inc. Betty was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking, baking and gardening. She loved music and dancing, her foot would always be tapping to a good polka.

Betty is survived by her loving husband, DuWayne; her children: Suszanne (Monty) Szydel; Randal (Dorene) Matter, DeAnn (Keith Buse) Dodge and Ronda (Jim Griepentrog) Hederer; her grandchildren: Joshua (Tammy) Stargardt, Skye (Logan Olstinski) Stargardt, Travis (Morgan Tysver) Matter, Tara (Sam) Nigon, Miranda (Travis) Oestreich, Jacob Dodge, Kendra (Mark Walters) Dodge, Anthony Hederer and Ella Hederer; her great-grandchildren: Jaden, Avery, Rylee, Keyan and Colten. Betty is further survived by her siblings: Sharon (Andrew) Malovrh of Cedarburg, Kathleen (Bruce) Stewart of Chetek, Jeffrey (Jodi) Hebert of Spencer, Mary (Spencer) Graves of Spencer and Jacqueline (Kevin) Buse of Rosholt; her sisters-in-law Kay Hebert of Marshfield and Janet (Leslie) Mews of Wisconsin Rapids.

She was preceded by her parents Mary Jane (Glasby) and Donald Hebert; her brother Roger Hebert; her mother and father-in-law Ella (Huber) and Raymond Matter and her grandsons: Adam Dodge and Zachariah Stargardt.

Betty so very much enjoyed her life with her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
