Halter, Larry James Sr. (15 MAR 1955 - 11 FEB 2018)

Larry James Halter, Sr., age 62, of Park Falls, died on Sunday, Feb. 11, 2018 at his home, surrounded by his family after a hard fight against cancer.

Larry was born on March 15, 1955 in Illinois, the son of Ernest and Ann (Castle) Halter.
He was a graduate of Ladysmith High School. After his schooling he served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War.

On July 6, 2002 he married Tammy LaPlant and renewed his vows to Tammy on June 4, 2016. He was a member of the Park Falls American Legion post and was an avid outdoorsman.
He was a happy, jolly, fun loving man, who brightened your day with his smile.

He is survived by his wife, Tammy of Park Falls; his sons, Dakota of Park Falls, Brian (Kami) of Hawkins, Robbie (Amy) Stout of Hawkins and Larry Jr. of Ladysmith; his daughters, Shyanne of Park Falls, Loree (Jeff) Pearison of Hawkins and Monique Carpenter of Oconto Falls; 13 grandchildren; his mother-in-law, Doris LaPlant (Danny) of Park Falls and his sisters and brothers-in-law, Brenda (Dennis) Jarvis of Park Falls, Chris (Kati) LaPlant of Park Falls and Matthew LaPlant of Bessemer, Mich.

He is also survived by his adopted sons and daughters, Jenelle, Frankie, Alyssa, and Jacob; special friends, Lisa Dezotell and Todd Nelson and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. He is further survived by with his loving pets, Ashanti, Charlie Brown and Callie.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Jim, Less and Bud; his sister, Joan and his brother-in-law, Brian.

A celebration of life will take place on March 17 at the Park Falls American Legion Hall at 1 p.m. Military Honors will be held at 2 p.m.

The Novitzke Funeral Home is assisting the family.
