N.S.P. Co. Plan Improvements in 1940

G. V. Rork, president of the Northern States Power Company of Wisconsin, today announced that the 1940 construction budget of the company will be $1,987,560. Most of the 1940 expenditures are to take care of new business and increase demands of present customers.

The major construction items consists of: The completion of the new French Island steam plant at La Crosse, which will have an initial capacity of 13,400 horse power. It is expected that his plant will be completed and in operation by August 1, 1940.

The entire switchboard will be rebuilt at the Menomonie Hydro Plant. This is an added guard to service and provides additional capacity.

The 66,000 volt line from the Owen Substation to the T-Corners Substation will be rebuilt.

The Thorp Substation will be rebuilt and relocated.

Poles will be replaced in the 11,000 volt line between Elmwood and Plum City, and also on the line between Eleva and Strum.

Additional 4,000 volt feeder capacity will be installed in the business section of La Crosse to meet increasing load.

Further electrical equipment will be installed in the Wissota Hydro Plant, Red Wing, Nelson Bluff Siding and Cedar Falls Substations.

Provision is made for rural line extensions and reconstruction. Poles will be placed on the 13,000 volt line between Colby and Cherokee.
