Hantke, Douglas “Bub” (T. Paul Audit IRS Chief -1974)

Douglas “Bud” Hantke, 42, a native of Neillsville, has been selected as chief of the audit division in the St. Paul district of the Internal Revenue Service.

Hantke’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Hantke of 1008 Grand Avenue, Neillsville.

Bud graduated from Neillsville High School in 1950 and left to join the Air Force that same year. He graduated from Spencerian College in Milwaukee with a degree in accounting in 1958 and has been employed by the internal Revenue Service since that time. He spent ten years as an Internal Revenue agent before his selection for a management position as chief of the office audit branch.

He has served as chief of the conference staff and most recently as chief of one of Milwaukee district’s examination branches.

As chief of the audit division in St. Paul, Hantke will be responsible for the Internal Revenue Service Audit Program for the State of Minnesota. That office examines 22,000 individual and corporate tax returns each year. He will be responsible for managing the work of 450 employees.

Bud and his wife, the former Opal Woodford of Neillsville, have three children: Marv, 18; Kristina, 6; and Susan, 2.

Bud will assume his new duties early in December and intends to move his family to St. Paul shortly after that.
