Mertens, Dorothy (23 APR 1918 – 28 MAR 1971)

Mrs. Peter L. (Dorothy) Mertens, 53, of Madison, a former Withee (Clark Co., Wis.) resident, died Sunday morning at her home. Cause of death was not immediately determined.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Withee Methodist Church, and burial was made in Riverside Cemetery, Withee.

The former Dorothy Ellensohn was born April 22, 1918 in Cadott. She was married to Peter L. Mertens, who survives her. The couple came to Madison in 1955, where they are part owners of the Mertens Transport Company of McFarland, Wis.

She had been a Pink Lady at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison for several years.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Mrs. John Ward, Madison; a son, Peter, at home; three grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Joseph Schourten, Kaukauna; and Mrs. Raymond Pietz, Eau Claire; and her mother, Mrs. Lois Ellensohn, Mondovi.
