McNeely, Mary E. (3 SEP 1973)

Miss Mary E. McNeely, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ray McNeely, Route 1, Loyal (Clark Co., Wis.), and Thomas L. Slagoski, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Slagoski, Route 2, Rosholt, were married Monday, September 3, 1973 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Loyal, Wisconsin. The Very Reverend Norbert E. King officiated at the 2:00 rite. Servers for the mass were Luke McNeely, Loyal, brother of the bride, and Andy Buchkowski, Ringle, nephew of the bridegroom. Pat McNeely, Loyal, brother of the bride, was the lector. Mrs. Sharon Schoonover, Mrs. Diane Anderegg and July Zettler were the vocalist, with Judy also playing guitar, accompanied by Miss Jodi Schoonover playing the organ.

Miss Kathryn McNeely, Sutherland Hall, Eau Claire, sister of the bride, was the maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Misses Ann McNeely, Loyal, and Ruth Buchkowski, Ringle, niece of the bridegroom. Miss Lori McNeely, Loyal, sister of the bride, was the junior bridesmaid.

Mark Slagoski, Milwaukee, nephew of the bridegroom, was best man. Groomsmen were William Hoppea, Rosholt, friend of the bridegroom, and Jeffery McNeely, Menomonie, brother of the bride, and Timothy Buchkowski, Ringle, nephew of the bridegroom.

The bride designed and made her gown of dotted Swiss over peau de soi with Dacron silk organza sleeves. She carried a cascade bouquet of white roses, stephanotis, baby breath, and ivy. Her matching floral headpiece accented her floor length sheer bridal illusion veil.

The bride also made her attendants floor length gowns of blue and white gingham over peau de soie with long sleeves and Peter Pan collars. Their ruffled pinafores of dotted Swiss highlighted their gowns. White picture hats with matching ribbons, a pendant necklace – the bride’s gift to her attendants, and white wicker baskets of blue carnations and baby’s breath competed their attire.

The reception was held at the home of the bride’s parent,s followed by dinner in the church all. Music by the Royal Tones was selected by the groom for their wedding dance, which was held at Fahey’s Ballroom, Rozellville.

The couple will reside in Wausau, after their wedding trip through the northern states and Canada.

The bride graduated from Loyal High School and attended University of Wisconsin, Marshfield. She is employed as a secretary at Lutheran Social Services. The bridegroom graduated from Rosholt High School, served four years in the U.S. Marine Corps, and attended Orange County College, California. The groom is employed at Weyerhaeuser, Rotshschild.
