Harger, Allen (17 NOV 1886 – 20 NOV 1973)

Allen Harger, 87, 502 W. Clark St., Spencer, died November 20, 1973 at the Colonial House of Colby.

Funeral services were held at St. john's Lutheran Church on November 23, 1973 at 1:30 p.m., with burial in St. John's Lutheran Cmetery. Rev. David Ault officiated at the services.

The Rux Funeral Home, Spencer, was in charge of arrangements.

Allen Harger was born November 17, 1886 in Benton Co., Iowa. He was married to Mary Steinke on February 16, 1909 in Benton, Iowa. In February of 1932 they moved to R. 1, Spencer, where they farmed until 1948, when they moved to the village of Spencer. Mrs. Harger preceded him in death.

Mr. Harger is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Melvin (Marguerite) Schultz, R. 1, Spencer; two sons, Roy Harger, R. 2, Arpin, and Donald Harger, Ocala, Florida; and one niece, Mrs. Amy Binning, Abbotsford, Wis. He is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Viola Williams, El Monte, California.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by seven brothers.

The hymns, "Asleep in Jesus" and "Jerusalem the Golden," with Mrs. Marcia Marten as organist.

Pallbearers were Ernie Frank, Bill Frank, Lester Kenyon, Art Mellenthin, Otto Prechel, and Olaf Manthe.
