Smart, Donald B. (22 DEC 1941 – 13 MAY 2018)

Colby - Donald Bernard Smart, age 76, of Colby, passed away unexpectedly from ill health conditions on Sunday, May 13, 2018 at St. Michaels Hospital in Stevens Point.

He was born December, 22 1941, the son of Donald Smart and Florence Smart (Fenske). Don was a 1960 graduate of Colby High School followed by military (Army) service for 6 years. In 1961 he was united in marriage to Sally Jane Kiviko who preceded his death in November 1962.

As a young boy, Donald worked on the family farm in Unity followed by 6 years of Military (Army) service. Don moved to Fond du Lac upon completion of service to our country and worked at Mercury Marine for the next 30 years. Upon retirement from Mercury, Don returned to Colby and was married to Sharon Kilty on July 7, 1997. He loved aviation and the freedom of flying his own airplanes. Don was also a Corvette enthusiast and especially loved camping in the Wisconsin summer months and spending the winter months in Texas with his wife.

He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Sharon; two sons, Terry (Tina) Smart and Dustin; six step children Shari, Donald, and Noelle Kops, Darcy (James) Plaskey, Tara (Jayce) Abel and Matthew (Jenna) Kops, three grandchildren, Travis and Trevor Smart, and Allie Hodge, 18 step grandchildren, James, Jackie, Briana, Brenna, Brooke, Britni, Jakob, Garrett, Davis, Madison, Gabriella, Ryder, Diesel, Maverick, Axle, Madison, Samantha and Mia, nine great-grandchildren and one sister Diane (Thomas) LaBarge. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Sally Smart, and stepson Rick Kops.

Donald's wishes were for no memorial service and has contributed his body to Medical research followed by cremation.
