Christensen, Martin Sr. (8 November 1900 – 8 February 1975)

Funeral services were held Tuesday from St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church for Martin Christensen, Sr., 74, of Neillsville, who died February 8 at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, following a lingering illness. The Rev. Norman W. Lindloff officiated and interment followed in the Neillsville City Cemetery. The Georgas-Gesche Funeral home was in charge of arrangements.

Born November 8, 1900, in Copenhagen, Denmark, where he received his education, Mr. Christensen came to the United States as a young man. His marriage to the former Grace Wallace took place August 16, 1927, in Waukegan, Il.

Mr. Christensen worked as a gardener at the W. P. Martin estate, Lake Forest, Il., for many years and later was employed at Stone Henge estates, Libertyville, Il., until 1972 when he retired and moved to Neillsville. He was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are one son, Martin Christensen, Jr., of Decatur, Il., and three grandchildren; and also, by one sister.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials to the American Cancer Society.
