Johnson, Carl E. (8 DEC 1891 – 14 AUG 1971)

Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 17, 1971 for Carl Edwin Johnson, a resident of the Curtiss and Owen (Clark Co., Wis.) communities for the past 60 years. Rev. Gene Carlson officiated at the final rites, which ere held at the Hoeper and Kraut Funeral Home, Owen. Burial was made at Riverside Cemetery.

Six grandson, Bruce Becker, William Kobs, Ronnie Johnson, Gary Schultz, Clifford Johnson and Jim Johnson served as pallbearers.

Mr. Johnson, 80, passed away at Victory Memorial Hospital, Medford, where he had been a patient for several weeks, at 1:00 a.m. Saturday, August 14, 1971.

He was born December 8, 1891 at Belvidere, Ill., and gained his education in the school system of Rockford, Ill. He came to Owen in 1911 and settled on a farm in the Town of Hoard, near Curtiss. On May 28 1919 he and the former Theresa Hanson were married in a ceremony performed at Marshfield. She passed away October 27, 1937. On June 15, 1941 he remarried Etta Martinson as his wife. She, too, preceded him in death, passing away in April of 1963.

He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Howard (Lucille) Grandy, Medford; three sons, Harris Johnson, Withee; Clarence Johnson, Marshfield, and Roger Johnson of Owen; two step-children, Margie Wagner, Milwaukee and Russell Martinson, Tempe, Arizona; four step-grandchildren; 11 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
