Davis, Evangeline “Eva” (9 September 1873 – 25 February 1975)

A former Granton resident, Mrs. Evangeline (Eva) Davis of Memorial Home, died February 25 at the age of 101. Funeral services were held Saturday from the Georgas-Gesche Funeral Home with the Rev. William Noble of the United Methodist Church officiating. Burial was in the Windfall Cemetery, Granton.

Eva Davis, daughter of John and Elizabeth (Bond) Thompson, was born September 9, 1873, in Portsmouth, England (came to the United States with her family at the age of 10 and lived in Granton for a number of years. Her marriage to Romanzo R. Davis took place in October of 1896 at Granton.

The couple moved to Minneapolis, Mn., for several years, then lived in Tacoma, Wa., for 25 years. In 1929 they returned to Granton. Mr. Davis died January 28, 1958. Mrs. Davis, who was a member of the Granton United Methodist Church, entered Memorial Home in 1967 because of failing health. Alert and quick witted at her 100th birthday celebration in 1973, Mrs. Davis recommended staying inside, not going outside too much, as an aid to longevity.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Dan Garbisch, Ronald Gluck, Jr., Harvey McWilliams, Robert McWilliams, Harry McWilliams and Ernest Mabie.

Organ music was played by Ronald Gluck, Jr.
