Jensen, Glen V. (10 MAR 1931 - 25 JUL 2018)

Glen V. Jensen, age 87, peacefully passed away in his sleep July 25, 2018, at his Machickanee cottage as his vigilant daughter, Wendy, heard his last breath.

He now joins his parents, many siblings and ancestors in the everlasting beyond.

His father, Arthur “Dane” O. Jensen, assisted his wife, Margaret L. (Ulrich) Jensen at their home farm in his birth on March 10, 1931, in the Town of Mayville, Dorchester. He was one of 15 children.

Living siblings are Bruce Jensen, Vera Thorson, Audrey Cypher, Gene Jensen, Sandy Jensen and Dean Jensen.

Deceased siblings are Valgene, Lydia, Marvin, Beaulah Fischer, Charlene Hundrieser, Donna Goesl, Verna Meyer and Marilyn Meyer.

Graveside Memorial: Glen’s cremated remains was held at Pine Hill Cemetery, Pine Rd., Curtiss, Clark Co., on July 29 2018, at 3 p.m. At the funeral, military honors respected his four years of U.S. Navy foreign sea duty (Jan. 1950 to Dec. 1953). He served as the volunteer historian and reunion organizer for the USS Sarasota Association.

Glen was a graduate of Dorchester High School and earned a business management certification at Carroll College. He worked 37 years at Broan Mfg., Hartford, where he rose from spot welder to welding foreman, to design engineer to customer service and finally, tech support. He retired in 1993 with his wife, Mary Beth (Noonan) Jensen, BFA, MS, who he married 45 years ago, July 21, 1973. Mary Beth, a retired school principal, was born in Oconto. She is the daughter of deceased parents, Robert Herald Noonan, born in Oconto 1912, and Mary Melvina Werts, born in Russell, Lucas Co., Iowa, 1911, both having met while teaching at Oconto High School, 1939.

Glen had four children with his previous wife until 1969, Norene M. (Lueth) Jensen: Tami M. Ritt of Huson, Mont., (Phillips, three children, then Ritt, one child); Michael G. Jensen of Greenfield, (Patti, 13 children, then Judy, no children); Wendy R. Jensen of Mauston, (Vasil, one child, then Dodd, two children); and Eric A. Jensen of Henrietta, Okla., (Jenny, no children). In all, 20 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Mary Beth and Glen had no children together. She helped raise his younger three children from ages 6, 10 and 13.

Glen was a life member of the VFW affiliating with the Hartford, then Colby, posts. He loved sailing the Mediterranean and foreign naval ports as Radioman 2nd Class Petty Officer, USN.
His interests in later life included hunting, snowmobiling, four-wheeling, pontooning, playing Nickel Down, computer work, photography, traveling and many home-improvement projects (particularly decks overlooking the Machickanee Flowage).

Special thanks and blessings go to the staff at the VA, Prevea, Unity Hospice, neighbors Jeff and Barb Schullo, Lydia and Nelson Martinez, and daughters Tami and Wendy for all of their love, assistance and support in Glen’s remaining days here on earth.

Rather than gifts and flowers to the family, his wife suggests “paying it forward” to someone in need, particularly the veterans, the homeless...and those lost and forgotten.
