Rueden, George R. (22 MAR 1930 - 6 AUG 2018)

George R. Rueden, age 88, of Spencer, passed away on Monday morning, Aug. 6, 2018, at House of the Dove in Marshfield.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 11, 2018, at Christ the King Catholic Church in Spencer, Rev. Samuel Martin presided. A burial followed in Abbotsford Public Cemetery. Family and friends were invited to gather on Friday at Life Tributes Funeral Home in Spencer from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and on Saturday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service.

The honor of pallbearers for George will belong to Ethan Hoff, Josh Gosar, Jeremy Johnson, Anna Rueden, Nicole Hoff and Nicholas Rueden.

George was born on March 22, 1930, in Milwaukee, to George Sr. and Vera Rueden. He attended Bruckerville School in Dorchester. George worked in dairy farming, Laabs Cheese Company, and Berg Equipment for several years and later owned and operated Coast to Coast Store in Abbotsford for 26 years. George faithfully served his country in the United States Army from 1955, until his honorable discharge in 1958.

George was married to Elaine Schaefer on Aug. 23, 1950, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Wuertzburg. They were married 67 years.

He enjoyed fishing, small engine repair and all-around tinkering, getting out and riding his motorcycle, reading books about Amish living and helping out anyone in need. George took great pride in manicuring his lawn, so they looked just right.

George was a member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Abbotsford and Christ the King Catholic Church in Spencer, where he was an usher and eucharistic minister.

He is survived by his wife, Elaine; his children, Cindy (Tony) Gosar of Greenwood, Cheryl Rueden Judnic of Holmen, Mark Rueden of Chippewa Falls, and Pamela Hoff (Kurt Weinfurtner) of Spencer; his brother, Russell (Dorothy) Rueden of Stetsonville; his grandchildren, Lisa (Jeremy) Johnson of Omaha, Neb., Joshua (Carly) Gosar of Duluth, Minn., Lori (Phil) Humphrey of Holmen, Bethany Gosar of Spencer, Anna Rueden who is currently serving in the United States Navy, Nicholas Rueden of Chippewa Falls, Nicole Hoff of Spencer, Ethan Hoff of Spencer; two step-granddaughters; his great-grandchildren, Nevaeh, McKail, Nadierah, McKellen, Namarah, Nadianah and Namylah Johnson of Omaha, Neb., Landon and Myles Humphrey of Holmen, Braelynn Gosar of Duluth, Minn.; two step great-grandchildren; along with many other relatives and friends.

George was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Marilyn Huebner of Medford and Olivia Westphal of Colby; and his brother, Robert Rueden of Abbotsford.

His arrangements are under the care of Life Tributes Funeral Home-Spencer.
