Seidel, Donald J. “Boogie” (29 FEB 1932 - 6 AUG 2018)

Donald J. “Boogie” Seidel, age 86, of Dorchester, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, Aug. 6, 2018, at his home.

A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, Aug. 11, 2018, from 1 until 3 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 3 p.m. at the Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Dorchester. Interment will follow with military honors provided by the Dorchester American Legion Post No. 517 at the Dorchester Memorial Cemetery.

Donald was born Feb. 29, 1932, the son of Frank and Erna (Wuest) Seidel in Colby. He graduated from Dorchester High School in 1950. Don enlisted in the Army National Guard and then enlisted in the U. S. Army.

On Feb. 26, 1958, he was united in marriage to Birthe “Bea” Pedersen in Copenhagen, Denmark. She preceded him in death on June 30, 2014.

Don loved the Green Bay Packers, jigsaw puzzles and woodworking. Most importantly, he cherished his family.

Don is lovingly survived by his five children, Anni (Mark) Bunkelman of Milan, Linda (Craig) Hayes of Marshfield, Karen (Jeff) Willingham of Columbus, Ind., William (Christine) Seidel of Medford and Kristy Snow of Hixson, Tenn.; 13 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. He is further survived by his sister, Marlene (Robert) Cypher of Menomonee Falls; and two sisters-in-law, Lois Seidel of Menomonee Falls and Anni Jeppesen of Denmark.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Bea; his daughter, Kay; two brothers, Gordon and Nyle; and a sister, Joanne.
