Yurkovich, Mary Jo (Marriage – 19 April 1975)

Miss Mary Jo Yurkovich became the bride of Dennis Lee Sischo Saturday, April 19, in a 1 p.m. ceremony performed at Zion American Lutheran Church in the Town of Pine Valley by the Rev. Stephen N. Engelstad. A reception afterwards at the Sischo home was followed by a dinner at Bali Hai Supper Club and a dance at the Silver Dome Ballroom.

Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Valentine Yurkovich, Rt. 1 Willard, and Mr. and Mrs. DeVere Sischo, Rt. 3 Neillsville.

The bride carried a basket filled with pink roses, white daisies and baby’s breath as she was presented in marriage by her father. Her white A-line gown, its hemline edged with lace, was fashioned with a chiffon overlay, short, ruffle-layered, lace edged sleeves, and a puckered bodice with satin back-bow. A matching lacy picture hat with bow and elbow length streamers completed her ensemble.

Miss Bonnie Yurkovich, sister of the bride, was the maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Miss Nancy Arch, Milwaukee, Miss Kitty Yurkovich, Miss Vicki Sischo and Miss Janis Sischo. Their empire-waist, pinafore style gowns of blue and white gingham featured hemline ruffling and eyelet ruffling on the sleeves. They wore matching bonnets and carried baskets of white daisies and pink carnations with baby’s breath.

Serving as bestman was Terry Sischo, Granton, brother of the groom, Jim Ratsch, Wausau, Ed Yurkovich, Willard, Mark Olson and Paul Sterlecci, River Falls, were the groomsmen. Ron Ormond and Randy Fox shared ushering duties.

The new Mrs. Sischo is a graduate of Greenwood High School and of District One Technical Institute-Eau Claire. She is employed as an executive secretary by a Thorp insurance corporation. Her husband, a Neillsville High School graduate, earned a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. He is a special education teacher at Sunburst Youth Home, Eau Claire.

The couple will make their home at Mead Lake on Rt. 1 Willard.
