Olson, Dorothy B. (Polacek) (10 APR 1927 - 15 SEP 2018)

Dorothy B. Olson, 91, of Rib Lake, passed away Saturday September 15, 2018 at Rib Lake Health Services.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 AM, Tuesday September 18, 2018 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Rib Lake. Father Otto Bucher will officiate. Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday evening from 4:00 – 7:00 PM. A Rosary service will be held at 7:00. Visitation will continue Tuesday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of Mass at 11:00.

Dorothy was born April 10, 1927 in Rib Lake to Charles and Emily (Kiska) Polacek. She attended Fawn Valley Grade School and was a 1945 graduate of Rib Lake High School. She married Harry Bernard Olson on November 9, 1946. Harry preceded her in death.

She is survived by her children: Cheryl (Ted) Eisner of Rib Lake, Ann Leiskau of Wisconsin Rapids, Jim (Sue) Olson of Medford, John (Julie) Olson of West Bend, Debra (Paul) Strelka of Green Bay, Susan Gilbertson of Schofield, Jane Olson and Mary Olson both of Wausau, 16 Grandchildren, 22, Great Grandchildren, 1 Great Great Grandchild, Siblings: Frances (Emil) Foytik, Mary (Steve) Warga both of Phillips, George Polacek of Sun Prairie and Sister in Law Alice Polacek of Centennial, CO.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her Parents, Husband, 2 infant sons, 2 infant grandchildren, Granddaughter Barbara Deuster, Siblings Tom Polacek Sr., James Polacek, Charles “Bud” (Justine) Polacek and Sister in Law Mary Polacek and Son in Law Gil Gilbertson.

Dorothy worked for Golden Living in Rib Lake for 11 years in the laundry department. She then went on to work for Gem Products for 3 years. She took most pride and joy in serving as the crossing guard for the schools in Rib Lake. In her retirement, she worked at Little Bohemia.

She enjoyed knitting, and always looked forward to making lap robes to give away at the Lions Club dinner every Christmas. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church, where she served as a Eucharistic minister and greeter, and the Rib Lake American Legion Auxilliary.

Memorial donations in honor of Dorothy can be given to her family, for designation at a later date.

Hemer Funeral Service of Medford and Rib Lake has been entrusted with arrangements.
