Berrett, Karen (7 OCT 1940 – 19 SEP 2018)

Karen Berrett, 77, Naples, Fla., formerly of Greenwood, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2018. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 29, at St Mary ‘s Catholic Church in Greenwood, where she was baptized, confirmed and married.

Karen Klinke was born on Oct. 7, 1940, in Greenwood, to Edward and Olive (nee Keller) Klinke. She was raised and received her education in Greenwood, graduating from Greenwood High School in 1958. On June 9, 1962, Karen married James Berrett, also of Greenwood, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Karen and her family moved often and made lasting friendships across the United States. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, volunteer, an avid golfer, tennis player, boater, home designer, event planner, loved to travel, and so much more.

She is survived by her husband, James Berrett of Naples, Fla.; four sons: Steven (Scott Andariese) Berrett of Naples Fla., Robert (Claire) Berrett of Orono, Minn., Dean (Dale) Berrett of Virginia Beach, Va., and Doug (Ingrid Thoft) Berrett of Seattle, Wash.; six grandchildren: Jenna Berrett of St. Paul, Minn., Justin (Margaret) Berrett of New York, N.Y., Geneva Berrett of Orono, Minn., Kaylyn Berrett of Portland, Ore., Benjamin Berrett of Virginia Beach, Va., and Ellie Berrett of Virginia Beach, Va.; one brother: Ralph Klinke of Carson City, Nev.; three sisters: Loraine (Charles) Adams of Eaton, Ohio, Rita (Joseph) Platt of North Wales, Pa., and Kay (Ronald) O’Brien of Marshfield; and one sister-in-law: Hedwig “Dickie” Bauer of Loyal.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers: Frank and Alvin Klinke; and three sisters: Lucille Bantz, Jean Wolstenholme, and Alberta Klinke. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at: www.alz.org

Cuddie Funeral Home, Greenwood, is assisting the family with arrangements.
