Hilligas, Doris (10 JUL 1971)

St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Thorp, was the setting for the marriage ceremony on Saturday, July 10, 1971 for Doris Hilligas and Larry Frese. Reverend Robert W. Olson performed the 1:30 p.m. marriage ceremony. Jolene Olson was organist.

The bride is the daughter of Carrie Hilligas, Chelsea, Iowa, and the groom is the son of Emmet Frese, Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.).

The bride, given in marriage by her brother-in-law, Fred Prusha, wore a street length dress of organza over satin, styled with a lace mandarin collar, empire waist and long sleeves. Her shoulder length veil was held by a headpiece of lace petals and her bouquet was of daisies and mums.

Margie Erickson was maid of honor, and bridesmaids were JoAnn Dollen, Darlene Noah, and Marianne Brandl. They wore dresses of lavender chiffon over satin, styled with lace mandarin collard and empire waistlines. Each carried a bouquet of daisies and mums with lavender streamers. Theresa Prusha was flower girl.

Robert Frese was his brother’s best man, and groomsmen were William Dollen, Thomas Kuester, and Gerald Frese. Jerry and Terry Frese were ushers.

A supper for 300 guests was held at the Silver Dollar, Thorp, and reception and dance were held at the Thorp Legion Hall.

The groom is with Empire Gas Company. The new couple will make their home on route 3, Thorp.

Attending the wedding were guests from Chicago, Illinois; Chelsea, Iowa; Toledo, Ohio; Big Harbor, Washington; New Berlin, Oxford, West Salem, Greenwood, Milwaukee, Withee, and Auburndale.
