Three Granton (Clark Co., Wis.) High School Future Farmers received Wisconsin
State Farmer Degrees at the Annual Convention at Green Lake, June 12, 1974)
Receiving degrees were Larry Meddaugh, Bruce Stanley and Steve Walter.
The degree is the highest the state association can confer upon its members.
Meddaugh is the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Meddaugh, Town of Washburn,
where he manages 160 acres and has his own herd of 24 milking Holstein cows and
19 head of young stock. He served as reporter for the Granton FFA this past
year, and graduated from the school. He plans to farm full time.
Bruce Stanley is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Allen Stanley, Town of Grant. He has a
farming program of hogs and beef, and has been a consistent winner at the
Northwest Junior Livestock Show in Eau Claire. He was FFA Sentinel this year,
and now plans to help his father in the livestock trucking business.
Steve Walter, son of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Walter Sr. of the Town of York, merited
his degree on his farming program of dairy animals, corn plots, herd testing and
tree planting. He was FFA president this past year, and attended the National
FFA Convention in Kansas City.
With the three boys receiving the degree, the number of boys from Granton High
School who became State Farmers is raised to 53. Attending the convention this
year as delegates from Granton were Jeff Eibergen and Leroy Hasz. Kevin Steiner
attended and was a member of the State FFA band. The boys were under the
supervision of their advisor, Francis Steiner, vocational agriculture instructor
at Granton High School.
