Joe Kronschnabl (29 Jan 1873 – 7 Nov 1938)

Joseph Kronschnabl, Sr., 65, Dorchester assessor and Soo Line mail carrier, passed away suddenly at 4:00 Monday afternoon while unloading a carload of coal with his son, Jerome, for the O&N Lumber company. He had been in apparent good health and was conversing with his son when stricken with a heart attack.

Born in Germany January 29, 1873, he came to the United States at the age of eleven and had been a resident of the Dorchester community the past 55 years. Mr. Kronschnabl had engaged in farming in the town of Mayville many years, was local agent for the Northwestern Oil company nine years, for a time operated bowling alleys in the village, was village assessor the past four years and had carried mail for the Soo Line the past year and a half.

He is survived by his wife, eight children: Joseph, Jr., and Rose of Milwaukee; Helen, Mrs. Carl Mertens of Dorchester; and Celia, Mildred, Max, Jerome and Milton at home; and two brothers: Herman Kronschnabl of Crandon and George Kronschnabl, Milwaukee.

Funeral services probably will be held Thursday morning at St. Louis Catholic church in Dorchester and interment will be in Memorial cemetery.

A complete obituary will be published next week.
