Marvin Tauchen (9 Dec 1925 – 4 Oct 1997)

Marvin Tauchen, 71, Dorchester, died at 4:58 p.m. Oct. 4, 1997, at his residence in the Town of Mayville.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Peace United Church of Christ with the Rev. Robert Everhard officiating. Burial will be in the Dorchester Memorial North Cemetery.
Visitation will be after 4 p.m. Tuesday at the Maurina Funeral Home.

Marvin Tauchen was born Dec. 9, 1925, in the Town of Mayville, the son of William and Emma (Wolf) Tauchen. He attended the Cleveland Grade School in the Town of Mayville and was a 1943 graduate of Dorchester High School.

As a young man, Marvin worked as a farm hand on various area dairy farms and later was employed on the family farm with his parents. On May 10, 1952, Marvin and the former Clara Dearth were united in marriage at the Christian Alliance Church in Owen. They then took over the family farm which they operated until retiring in 1987.

In retirement, Marvin and Clara enjoyed traveling, bowling and gardening.

He was a member of the Peace United Church of Christ, which he served as secretary of the Church Council.

He will be sadly missed by his wife, Clara of Dorchester; a son, Ronald (Beth) Tauchen of Sun Prairie; three daughters, Janice (Jim) Rau of Colby, Nancy (Brian) Severson of Verona and Donna (Tom) Berg of Madison; a brother, Rudy (Ann) Tauchen of Curtiss; two sisters, Lucille (Kenneth) Peissig of Shawano and Alice Kollath of Wausau; and seven grandchildren, Amanda and Tyler Rau, Philip, Kyle and Quinn Severson, and Sarah and Laura Tauchen.
He was predeceased by his parents, and by a grandson, Erik Severson.
