William L. “Bill” Horn, 80, Loyal, peacefully passed away at home on Friday, Feb. 15, 2019, surrounded by his family. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., on Friday, Feb. 22, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Loyal. Rev. Leo Johnson will officiate, and burial of cremains will follow in St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by the Loyal American Legion Post #175. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until time of service.

William Lee Horn was born on Jan. 28, 1939, in Marshfield, the only child of Raymond and Margaret (nee Schmidt) Horn. He was raised on the family farm, received his education at Pleasant View grade school, and graduated from Loyal High School in 1957. Bill served in the Army National Guard during the Berlin Crisis from Oct. 31, 1959, until his honorable discharge from active duty on Aug. 10, 1962. He married Marcia L. Wells on June 3, 1967, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Loyal. They farmed his family farm, raising registered red and white Holsteins, until retiring in 1995. They moved into Loyal and have resided there since. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, the Loyal American Legion Post #175, and United Commercial Travelers. Bill had many interests, but especially loved fishing, hunting and playing sheepshead.

He is survived by his wife, Marcia, of Loyal; one son: Kenneth (Dawn) Horn of Loyal; one daughter: Karen Horn of Loyal; three grandchildren: Tyler, Olivia and Kaden Horn; his mother-in-law: Kathryn Wells of Greenwood; his brother-in-law: Mike Wells of Marshfield; and other relatives and friends.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; his father-in-law, Donald Wells; and his sister-in-law: Judy Wells.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be given in Bill’s name for a memorial to be established at a later date.
