Meyer, Maribeth (9 MAY 1970)

At the altar decorated with bouquets of pink roses and carnations, Maribeth Meyer became the bride of Eldred E. Suckow. The 1 p.m. ceremony May 9, 1970 took place at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Colby, with the Rev. Frank Rushman officiating.

Parents of the bride are Mr. and Mrs. Ervin A. Meyer of route 1, Colby. Mr. and Mrs. Harvey R. Suckow of Unity are the groom's parents.

During the ceremony Mrs. Bernadette Gabriel played the organ. Mrs. Faith Caskey sang "Ave Maria", "Panis Angelicum" and "On This Day O Beautiful Mother."

Maid of honor for her friends was Shirley Pajac of Marshfield. Another friend of the bride, JoAnne Pflanzer of Stratford, and Jean Suckow, Unity, a sister of the groom, were her other attendants.

Larry Westberg, Colby, a friend of the groom, served as best man. Groomsmen to complete the wedding party were Harvey Suckow Jr., Marshfield, a brother of the groom, and James Meyer, Madison, the bride's brother.

Dennis Gonnering of Colby and Neil Bergman of Athens ushered.

The floor length bridal gown was of silk organza over taffeta. The empire style was fashioned with Swis and Venice lace, enhanced by fairytale sleeves. The chapel train was detachable. Her headpiece, a garland of Venice lace flowers, held a three tier bouffant veil. She carried a cascade of pin tited roses, lavender orchids and lily of the valley.

Carrying pink silk parasols adorned with maline, the attendants were seen if floor length gowns of floral silk organza over taffeta. Shades of lavender and pink predominated in the floral design. The gowns were styled with empire waistlines, high necklines and bishop sleeves. Lavender ribbons adorned their hair.

Festivities for 250 guests included a reception and supper at the Trianon Ballroom. Dancing followed to music provided by Howie Sturtz and his orchestra.

A 1969 graduate of St. Joseph's Hospital School of Nursing in Marshfield, the bride has been employed as a registered nurse there.

The groom is a graduate of North Central Technical Institute in Wausau in accounting. He is presently farming.

Following a wedding trip to California and other wester states, the couple will be lving in Unity.

Guests at the wedding came from Virginia, Minnesota, Illinois, Michigan, Milwaukee, Appleton, Mosinee, Madison, Green Bay, Eau Claire, De Pere, Wausau, Ashland, Superior, Marshfield, and the immediate area.
