Stanley will have to wait a while before it can boast of being the county seat
of “Pershing County.” The fight is over, all but paying a few hundred dollars or
more of expenses incurred.
Last Tuesday evening the Committee on State Affairs at Madison after listening
to about fifty men about equally divided for and against the new county
proposition, voted to indefinitely postpone the measure.
John Gamper and Herman Leicht made the leading addressed for Taylor county
against forming the new county.
