Madsen, Dagny (30 MAR 1904 – 26 APR 1975)

At 1:30 Wednesday afternoon, April 30, 1975, funeral services for Mrs. Peter (Dagny) Madsen, were conducted from the Nazareth Lutheran Church, Withee. The Rev. Robert H. Sullivan was in charge of the final rites, with burial being made at Riverside Cemetery.

Tuesday evening Eastern Star services were held at the Kraut-Maurina Funeral Home. Mrs. Madsen's death came as a surprise and shock, not only to her immediate family, but to her many friends in the community in which had had made her home the past 49 years. Although she had been ill and doctoring for several years she had been quite well and strong of late, and last fall enjoyed a vacation trip to the west coast with her husband, and as recent as Easter weekend was at the home of their daughter and son-in-law in Waupun. In fact her death occurred Saturday afternoon, April 26th, 1975 as they were leaving the home of friends, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hunt in Colby, with whom they had been visiting, and she collapsed while walking to their car. She was immediately rushed to the Colby Clinic, where she was pronounced dead on arrival of an apparent heart attack.

The former Dagny Lang, 71, was born March 30, 1904 at Farwell, Nebraska, and came to the Withee (Clark Co., Wis.) area with her parents at the age of 4. She attended the Withee area schools.

Her marriage to Peter Madsen took place September 25, 1926, at Withee. They lived in the City of Owen (Clark Co.) all their married life.

She was a member of the Owen Eastern Star, Nazareth Lutheran Church and its Ladies Guild, and a former member of the Royal Neighbors.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Gerald, Saulauket, Long Island, New York; a daughter, Mrs. William (Lois) Richardson, Waupun; four sisters, Mrs. Harriett Rasmussen, Oshkosh, Mrs. Micky (Anna) Mikkelsen, Garden City, Oregon, Mrs. Thomas (Sarah) Snyder, San Francisco, California, and Mrs. Andrew (Hadu) Smith, Owen; a brother, Herbert Lang, Hay Springs, Nebraska; two grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
