Benzschawel, Mr./Mrs. Joseph (Gold – 6 JUN 1972)

Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Benzschawel observed their Golden Wedding Anniversary on Saturday, June 10th, 1972 with a 10:30 a.m. Mass at St. Bernard's Church, a dinner following for the immediate family, and a 2 – 5:30 open house at the Legion Hall. A papal picture and blessing was given during the ceremony.

Joseph Benzschawel was united in marriage to Anne Micke on June 6, 1922 at St. Bernard's Church, with Father Muckerhide officiating. Attendants at the original wedding who attended were: Cecilia Velchek, sister of the bride, Pete Benzschawel, brother of the groom, Clara Schoenberger, sister, and Bill Micke Sr., brother.

To this union was born ten children: Ervin, Thorp, Bernard, Boyd, Wilbur, Maple Lake, Minnesota, Lucille Sawczuk, St. Paul, Alvin, Thorp, Mary Ann Spaeth Boyd, Jane Fischer, Wausau, Barbara Hagg, Indiana, Ruth Luken, St. Paul, Doris Bradley, Jim Falls. They also have 50 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Anne Micke was born May 6, 1900, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Anton Micke. She attended Pioneer School and St. Bernard's, and enjoys knitting, crocheting, and rug making. Joseph was born March 2, 1896 at High Cliff, Wisconsin, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas Benzschawel. He attended Pioneer School and St. Bernard's. They farmed in the Town of Worden (Clark Co., Wis.) until October 1962, when they retired. Mr. Benzschawel enjoys fishing and hunting.
