Schuman, Dora (28 December 1892 – 2 November 1975)

Mrs. Dora Schuman, 82, of Watertown, S.D., formerly of Greenwood, died early November 2 at the Watertown hospital following a brief illness.

The former Dora Horn was born December 23, 1892, in the Town of Warner and attended the Greenwood schools. She taught school in South Dakota before her marriage to Mark Schuman in Greenwood. After their marriage they farmed for many years in Onaka, S.D.

In 1960, they moved to Florida and lived in retirement. Mrs. Schuman returned to South Dakota following her husband’s death on September 25, 1965.

Surviving is a sister, Mrs. Tillie Poppe of Greenwood; and three brothers, Hubert, and Henry Horn of Greenwood, and Ervin Horn Minneapolis, Mn.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. November 6, at the Rinka Funeral Home in Greenwood. The Rev. David Wenger of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church officiated. Burial was made in Forest Hill Cemetery, Greenwood.

Pallbearers were all nephews: Darrel, Lloyd, Gerald, Herbert, Donald and Harlan Horn.

Gary Schultz sang, “The Old Rugged Cross,” and “I Know That my Redeemer Lives,” accompanied by Mrs. Schultz. People from a distance who attended were, Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Horn and sons, Harlan and Milo, of Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. Verne Vollrath of Janesville; Mrs. Leroy Wadzinski of Ravenna, Nb.; Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Stanke of Rice Lake; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Burkhardt of Chicago; Ervin Horn and Mrs. Nadine Wentworth of Minneapolis; Mr. and Mrs. Ollie Bogstad of Suring; Mr. and Mrs. Al Resech of Milwaukee.
