Jacks, Diane June (12 AUG 1972)

St. Hedwig’s Catholic Chapel, Thorp, was the setting for the marriage of Miss Diane June Jacks, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Anton Jacks, Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.), and Mr. John Robert Kodl, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Kodl, Thorp, on Saturday, August 12, 1972.

The double ring ceremony was performed by Father Will Grelle and Rev. Robert Olson, at 1:30 p.m. The altar was beautifully decorated with pink gladiolas.

The organist was Mrs. Ted Symbal, accompanied by Cheryl Janicki and Mary and Lillian Symbal.

The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, selected a floor length gown of organza and Chantilly lace. The bodice of Chantilly had a high scalloped collard and bishop sleeves. The bodice was embroidered with bugle pearl beads and dainty sequins. The A-line skirt with a wide border of Chantilly lace and the long detachable chapel sweep train had a wide border of Chantilly lace also. She completed her attire with a profile headpiece designed of Alencon lace petals, outlined with seed pearls with crystal accents. She carried a cascade bouquet of seven white orchids and stephanotis.

Miss Kathy Samplowski, friend of the bride, was maid of honor, and bridesmaids were Miss Jody Kodl, sister of the groom, and Miss Carol Kaszubowski, friend of the bride. Miss Sharon Jacks, sister of the bride, was junior bridesmaid. They donned floor length gowns of chiffon. The skirts wee softly gathered circular floral print in blue with white sheer bodices with ruffled fronts, stand up collars, and bishop sleeves. Dainty velvet buttons trimmed the bodice and a band of velvet encircled the waist with a dainty bow at center front. To complete their attired, they wore whit floppy brim hats. They each carried baskets with white carnations and blue daisies.

Miss Sandy Jacks, sister of the bride, was miniature bride, wearing a dress styled as that of the bride’s.

Vince Pogodzinski, friend of the groom, attended as best man, and groomsmen were Jerry Jacks, brother of the bride, and Roger Kodl, brother of the groom.

Ushers were Jim Kodl, brother of the groom, and Ray Jacks, brother of the bride. The offertory gifts were carried by the ushers.

The bride’s mother chose a green dress with long chiffon sleeves and tan accessories, and the groom’s mother chose a green dress with long lacy sleeves and white accessories. Each wore an orchid corsage.

Mrs. Kathy Kodl, sister-in-law of the groom, took charge of the guest book.

The dinner and reception were held at the Quonset Hall for 350 guests, with dancing and music by the Jolly Polkateers.

After a wedding trip to southern Wisconsin, the Kodl’s will make their home at the Thorp Trailer Court.
