Brown, Bert (14 April 1893-7 July 1982)

COLBY--Bert Brown, 89, Colby, died today at St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield, where he had been admitted on Friday.

Services will be Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Colby, with the Rev. Raymond J. Pedretti officiating. Burial will be in St. Anthony's Cemetery at Loyal..Friends may call Friday at the Rux-Lulloff Funeral Home in Colby, where a rosary services will be Friday.

Mr. Brown was born April 14, 1983 at Hartford to Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Brown and received his education at Hartford. He married the former Frances Hegy April 11, 1917 at Milwaukee. She died January 17, 1972. They celebrated their golden Wedding anniversary in 1967.

After their marriage they farmed in Marathon County for a tear and then moved to a farm in the Town of Loyal. In 1948 they moved to a home in Loyal, where Mr. Brown was then employed for eight years by the Loyal Canning Company and later self-employed in home building for 10 years. He moved to Colby in 1969 and enjoyed woodworking as a hobby.

He held various public offices, among being clerk of the Town of Loyal for 14 years, School district for 20 years, alderman in Loyal for 14 years and a member of the Clark County Board of Supervisors for 13 years.

He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Mr. Louis (Ruth) Rufener, Madras, Oregon; two sons, Edward, Colny, and Robert, Framingham, Massachusetts; 18 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his parents, a brother, a sister and a grandchild.
