Viola E. Lewandowski-Fleegel (20 Sep 1924 – 5 April 2007)

Viola E. Lewandowski-Fleegel, 82, Medford, died Thursday, April 5 at Memorial Health Center in Medford. Funeral mass was held Monday, April 9 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Medford, with Father Gerard Willger and Deacon Joe Stefancin officiating. Burial was at Stetsonville Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers were Steve Blaskowski, Mike Dahl, and Jason, Andy, Travis and Brian Lewandowski.

The former Viola Bach was born September 20, 1924 at Stetsonville to the late Mathias and Hedwig (Kronfuss) Bach. She attended Stetsonville area elementary schools.

On October 24, 1924 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Stetsonville she married George Lewandowski, who preceded her in death on April 27, 1994. They farmed in the Town of Little Black for many years. They also did interior and exterior painting in the area while farming and in her retirement. On May 6, 1995 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church she married Elvin Fleegel, who survives.

She was a member of Holly Rosary Catholic Church and former member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She enjoyed cleaning fish, polka and square dancing, embroidery, decorating homes, cooking and her flowers.

In addition to her husband, survivors include a daughter, Karen (Frank) Blaskowski of Marshfield; three sons, Glen (Sharon) Lewandowski of Medford, Bruce (Kimberly) Lewandowski of Dorchester and Leon (Shirley) Lewandowski of Portage; two sisters, Fern (Harold) Laube of Owen and Rosemary (Francis) Hohl of Baraboo; a brother, Irvin (Marlene) Bach of Dorchester; a daughter-in-law, Patty Lewandowski of Park Falls; 20 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Mark and David Lewandowski; two grandchildren, Crystal Burr and Joseph Lewandowski; and a sister Lillian Staab.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials in her name to Holly Rosary Catholic Church.
