Schmidt, Robert Edward (20 March 1939-15 August 1996)

LOYAL--Robert Edward Schmidt, 57, of 402 N Gwinn St., Loyal, died August 15, 1996 at W3024 Popple River Rd. in Unity.

Funeral services will be Monday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Loyal. The Rev. Roman Kaiser will officiate. Pallbearers will be Kenneth Horn, Dennis Roehl, Mark Schmidt, Phillip Schmidt, Douglas Roehl and Brian Schmidt.

Burial will be at St. Anthony's Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be Sunday at Rinka Funeral Home in Loyal.

Mr. Schmidt was born March 20, 1939, in the city of Neillsville, the son of Edward and Genevieve (Gaden) Schmidt. He graduated from Loyal High School in 1957.

After his schooling, he joined the National Guard in 1959. He served at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, Fort Ord, California and Fort Lewis, Washington. He was honorably discharged on June 30, 1964.

Robert and the former June Crockett were united in marriage on September 5, 1964, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Neillsville.

Robert farmed for 32 years outside the city of Loyal. He and his wife moved into Loyal in May 1996 where he resided until the time of his death. He was a member of the Loyal American Legion Post No. 175 and a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church.

He is survived by his wife, June of Loyal; two daughters, Kay (Randy) Rinehart and Nancy (Mark) Weyer, both of Loyal; a son, Kendal Schmidt of Loyal; five grandchildren, Edward and Nicole Rinehart and Samantha, Sarah, and Steven Weyer, all of Loyal; two sisters, Dolores (Andrew) Lindener of Muskego, and Charlotte (Frank) Oldham of Neillsville; and two brothers, Ronald (Gwendolyn) Schmidt and Eugene (Sheila) Schmidt, both of Spencer.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
