Counsell, Laura (Marriage – 17 January 1976)

Miss Laura Counsell became the bride of Jerry Chubb in a 4 p.m. ceremony performed Saturday, January 17, at Zion Lutheran Church, Granton, by the Rev. Everett Schleef. Bali Hai supper club was the setting that evening for a reception and dance honoring the couple.

Presented in marriage by her father, the bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mr. Jack Counsell, Rt. 1 Neillsville. The groom is the son of Earl Chubb, Rt. 1 Granton.

A cascade arrangement of white spider mums, yellow carnations and pink roses complimented the bride’s empire-waist gown of white polyester crystalline trimmed with daisy lace and fashioned with a double ruffle of daisy lace at the hemline. Her chapel length veil was edged in matching lace.

Bolero-jacketed gowns of dark forest green velvet were worn by Mis Diane Kronberger, maid of honor, and Miss Sandi Rhoades, bridesmaid. They carried bouquets of white mums, yellow carnations and pink roses.

The groom was attended by Jim Flor, Bloomington, Mn., as bestman and Robert Butterfield, Granton, as groomsman. Guests were seated by Stephen Walter and Rocky Elmhorst, both of Granton.

Soloist Sandy Naedler sang “We’ve Only Just Begun.” Mrs. Roger Helm was the organist.

The bride was honored at a prenuptial shower given at River Falls by Mabel Bensen.

The new Mrs. Chubb graduated from Neillsville High School in 1975 and attended the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. Her husband graduated from Granton High School in 1974 and is engaged in farming.

Following their return from a northern wedding trip, they will live on Rt. 1 Neillsville.
