Slota, Candace Lenore (2 Dec 1972)

Candace Lenore Slota, daughter of the late Dr. B.R. Slota, became the bride of Jerry Brenner, son of Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Brenner, Rt. 2, Thorp, on December 2, 1972 in a 1:00 ceremony at St. Bernard’s Church, Thorp. The reverend Francis Brockman performed the double ring ceremony before an altar decorated with poinsettias.

Miss Sharie Stuesser was the organist and accompanied Mrs. Alvina Fleming as she sang “More” and “Follow Me.”

The bride, given in marriage by her grandfather, B. L. Slota of Gilman, wore a custom styled gown of ivory English net with Irish lace appliques of wreathing and blossoms. The princess style floor length gown had long Juliet sleeves with a duchess neckline and a court train. In lieu of a veil the bride wore a custom styled picture hat. She carried a bouquet of white and light pin pompoms, pink sweetheart roses and baby’s breath.

Mrs. Sarah Fleming of West Allis was her sister’s matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Mary Lou Skalecki of Bowler, cousin of the bride, and Mrs. Jeanette Jensen of Hartford, friend of the bride. Mr. Tom Smasal, Stanley, friend of the groom, acted as best man, and groomsmen included Dean Mahr of Stanley and Harry Schultz, Thorp, both friends of the groom. Miss Kelly Mnikolaicik, Chippewa Falls, was the flower girl, and Kurt Boie, Thorp, was ring bearer. Messrs. Joe and Sam Slota, brothers of the bride, assisted as ushers.

After the ceremony a reception, dinner and dance were held at St. Hedwig’s Hall.

The new Mrs. Brenner works at Victory Memorial Hospital in Stanley. Mr. Brenner is self-employed at the J & T. Body Shop at Rt. 2, Thorp. After a wedding trip to Denver and Aspen, the couple is residing at 404 E. Stanley Street in Thorp.

Pre-nuptial showers were given by Mrs. Louis Mnikolaicik, Mrs. Donald Schesel and Mrs. Dean Mahr, and by Mrs. Don Seaholm and Mrs. Jean Broeren.
