Kippenhan, Lena (26 July 1897 - ? March 1976)

Mrs. Edwin Kippenhan, 79, died in Neillsville, where she had resided the last three years in Memorial Home.

Mrs. Kippenhan, the former Lena Reinhardt, was born July 26,1897. In the Town of Mead. She was married May 14, 1916, in Greenwood to Edwin Kippenhan. He died January 28, 1960. She received her education in the Decker School.

After their marriage, the couple farmed nine miles northwest of Greenwood, until his death. She continued to live on the farm for another four years, after which she lived with her children until entering Memorial Home.

She was a lifetime member of the Immanuel United Church and its Women’s Guild.

Surviving are three sons: Donald, at the Memorial Home in Neillsville; Calvin, at Appleton; and George Kippenhan, Sr., of Greenwood; a daughter, Mrs. Ralph (Malinda) Hintz of Milwaukee; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday from the Immanuel United Church of Christ in Greenwood, with the Rev. Larry Davis, officiating. Burial was made in the West Side Cemetery. Pallbearers were Erwin Toburen, Orlin Schwarze, Norman Liebzeit, Arvin Liebzeit, Harry Meinhardt and LeRoy Fravert. Susan Richmond, Kathy and Ruth Fravert and Luann and Amy Horn sang, “In the Garden,” and “Jesus Savior Pilot Me,” accompanied on the organ by Mrs. Walter Schwarze.
