Zawacki, Alice Marie (15 JUL 1972)

Alice Marie Zawacki and William Brian Leppert of Rockford, Illinois were united in marriage at a nuptial mass on Saturday, July 15, 1972 at St. Rita Catholic Church, Rockford, Illinois.

The new Mrs. Leppert chose her gown of imported cotton lace in an empire style with short double puff sleeves. She wore a matching mantilla with a long flowing veil, and carried white tea roses with orange pompons.

The bride’s attendants were: Donna Zawacki, sister of the bride, maid of honor; Gigi Schmalz and Diana Jo Garr, all of Rockford. The girls wore gowns of sheer white and apricot daisy print over organza, and large white picture hats interlace with apricot ribbons. They carried nosegays of white and apricot pompons trimmed with apricot ribbons. The flower girl was the bride’s cousin, Rita Cole, Arlington Heights, Illinois, who outfit matched the bridesmaids. The ring bearer was the groom’s nephew, Brian Olson, of Waterloo, Iowa.

The groom’s attendants were: Tom Peterson, best man; Chris Larson, Rockford and Greg Cole, Arlington Heights, Illinois. They wore white tuxedos with apricot ruffled shirts. Ushers were Roger Peters, Eau Claire and David Wittek, Seymour, Wisconsin. Joann Wittek sang several selections at the service, among them was the beautiful Latin version of Schubert’s Ave Maria.

The grandparents of the bride, Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Zawacki, Thorp (Clark Co.), Wisconsin, carried up gifts of bread and wine during the offertory at mass.

Cocktails, dinner and dancing completed the festivities of the day.

Alice is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Zawacki, formerly of rural Withee (Clark Co., Wis.). Alice attended Pineland Grad School and also attended Thorp Public School. She is a graduate of Guilford High School and Rock Valley Junior College of Rockford, Illinois. The groom is a graduate of Harlem High School and Rock Valley Junior College. He also served four years in the Navy.

Both Alice and Bill are listed in “Who’s Who Among Students In American Junior Colleges,” 1971-1972. They are recognized for their outstanding scholastic work and leadership abilities at Rock Valley.

The newlyweds honeymooned at Mackinac Island and stopped to visit Grandma and Grandpa Zawacki, Thorp, on their return trip.

The couple resides in DeKalb, Illinois, where they will both resume studies at Northern Illinois University in the fall.
