Bujalski, John J. “Jack” (23 JUN 1900 – DEC 1972)

John J. “Jack” Bujalski, 72, retired Soo Line Railroad Depot Agent at Harvey, died recently in a Minneapolis Hospital, after a brief illness. The funeral was in St. Cecilia Catholic Church, with Father Roman Neva officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

The Harvey Council of Knights of Columbus served as honor guard and pallbearers.

He was born June 23, 1900 in Poland, moving to Stanley (Chippewa Co.), Wisconsin in 1912. In 1920 he was employed by the Soo Line as relief operator. His first permanent assignment was in Kenmare in 1923. In 1925 he moved to Bordulac, then Loretta, Minnesota, Carrington, Hankinson, Rogers, and Crosby. He was named depot agent in Carrington in 1955.

In 1960 he moved to Harvey, where he retired as depot agent in 1965.

Mr. Bujalski married Gladys Magney in Kenmare February 16, 1926.

He was a member of and past grand knight, past faithful navigator of Knights of Columbus, and was instrumental in beginning councils at Carrington and Harvey. He was active in boy scouting for 30 years, winning the Silver Beaver award. He was a member and past secretary of the Harvey Kiwanis Club; member of the Catholic Order of Foresters; on the Advisory Board at Assumption Abbey, Richardton; Bishop’s Diocesan Council of Fargo, Diocese; Order of Railroad Telegraphers; and a member of the Eagles Lodge in Harvey. Mr. Bujalski served on the draft board in Divide County in World War II. He operated the campaign of the first Miss North Dakota in 1946.

He is survived by his wife; three sons, Paul and James, Sacramento, California, Major Jack Bujalski, Air Force, Colorado; two daughters, Mrs. Jeanne Kelly, Fargo, Mrs. Marian Vassar, San Jose, California; 20 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two brothers, Henry of River Falls, Wisconsin, and Frank of Chicago; and three sisters, Mrs. Victoria Sappa, Minneapolis, Mrs. Genevieve Kostrzeski and Mrs. Josephine Dudkiewicz, both of Chicago.
