Bruss, Emma (28 July 1886 – 12 April 1976)

A native of the Town of Levis, Mrs. Robert (Emma) Bruss of Neillsville died Monday, April 12, at the age of 89. Funeral services are to be held this (Thursday) Afternoon at 1:30 from St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church with the Rev. Norman W. Lindloff officiating. Burial will be in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

The body of Mrs. Bruss was to be in state at the Georgas-Gesche Funeral Home from 3-9 p.m. Wednesday and until noon today (Thursday) when it will be taken to the church to lie in state there from 12:30 p.m. until time of services.

Mrs. Bruss, the daughter of Karl and Anna Gabler Lipke, was born July 28, 1886, in the Town of Levis and was educated in local schools. As a young woman, she came to the city and did domestic work until her marriage to Robert Bruss, which took place December 23, 1907, at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Neillsville.

After their marriage, the couple farmed until 1920 when they moved to the city. Mr. Bruss preceded his wife in death in 1959. Mrs. Bruss, who was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church and of its Ladies Aid, spent the remainder of her life in Neillsville.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Edna and Elmer Georgas of Neillsville.
