Five Colby boys have received their Wisconsin Farmer degrees, the top award
presented by the Wisconsin Association of the Future Farmers of America.
The five boys are, Arlyn Abegglen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Rodon Abegglen of Route
1, Abbotsford, Dennis Engel, son of Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Engel of Route 1,
Dorchester, Norm Miller, son of Mr. and Mrs. Norman Miller of Route 1, Colby,
Thomas Peissig, son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Peissig, of Route 1, Dorchester, and
James Ploeckelman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Ploeckelman of Route 1,
Stetsonville.
The degree is bestowed annually on only two percent of the state membership.
The presentation was made at the state convention held last Monday through
Wednesday at Green Lake.
Colby chapter delegates were Ron Johnson, president, and Dale Krebsbach,
secretary.
Dennis Engel was a state officer candidate also.
Accompanying the boys were Don Springer and Sam Nelson, agriculture instructors.
