Carr, Laura (23 April 1904-20 January 1981)

COLBY-- Mrs. Laura Carr, 76, died Tuesday at Continental Manor Nursing Home, Abbotsford. Death followed an apparent heart attack.

The funeral will be Friday at Zion Lutheran Church, the Rev. Robin O. Fink officiating. Burial will be in Colby Memorial Cemetery. Friends may call at Rux Lulloff Funeral Home.

The former Laura Grauman was born April 23, 1904 in the town of Hull and attended local schools and Marathon County Normal School. She taught in area schools for five years.

On June 21, 1928, she and George Carr were married here. The couple farmed in the town of Hull 20 years, retiring in 1958. She moved to Colby after his death on December 26, 1967.

She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and a 42-year member of Cherokee Homemakers Club.

Surviving are one son, Henry of Colby; two grandchildren; and three sisters, Mrs. Maynard (Elsie) Schwantes of Leon, Iowa, Mrs. Arthur (Dorothy) Schmitt of Marshfield, and Mrs, Marvin (Verena) McGriff of West Manchester, Ohio. Two brothers and one sister are deceased.
