Sutton, Karen (17 JUL 1971)

Emanuel Lutheran Church, Stratford, was the scene of the July 17, 1971 wedding of Miss Karen Sutton, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Archie Sutton, Stratford, Route 1, and Gene Fecker, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Fecker, Route 1, Colby.

Rev. Kent E. Schroeder performed the 3 p.m. ceremony, and Mrs. Schroeder was the soloist.

For her wedding the bride designed a white floor length organza over taffeta gown with sweetheart neckline, long puffed sleeves with fitted cuffs, and a gathered skirt. The neckline was encircled with embroidered roses, which also extended down the front panel. Her fingertip veil was attached to a crown of pearls and Rochelle beads. She carried a bouquet of red sweetheart roses and white carnations.

The bride’s gown was made by her grandmother, Mrs. Rodney Sutton of Phillips.

Attending the bride were her sister, Miss Sharon Sutton, the maid of honor, and Miss Doreen Kopp, Stratford. They wore gowns designed by the bride and made by Mrs. Milford Feryance of Phillips. The white nylon organdy gowns were flocked with daisies over a yellow lining. The shoulder length yellow veils were attached to yellow velvet bows. Each carried a basket of yellow and white daisies.

The groom’s brother, George Fecker, served as best man. The groomsman was Richard Weiland of Colby.

Warren Sutton and Gary Fecker provided the ushering services.

Following the ceremonies a dinner was held at the church and a reception and dance followed at the Trianon Ballroom.

The bride is a graduate of Stratford High School. The groom graduated from Colby High School and is employed by Stratford Co-op. Following a wedding trip to southern Wisconsin, they will be making their home at Route 1, Stratford.
