Weiler, Joan O (7 AUG 1971)

Miss Joan O. Weiler, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter F. Weiler, Route 2, Colby, and David L. Romens, son of Mr. and Mrs. Woodrow Romens, Route 1, Unity, spoke their marriage vows in a 1:30 p.m. ceremony on August 7, 1971.

Father Francis Rushman performed the ceremony in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Colby.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride chose white dotted Swiss over satin to make her long sleeved, empire waist gown. The collar, waist, cuffs and edge of the floor length train were trimmed with lace. Her elbow length veil was attached to a petal leaf headpiece. She carried a bouquet of pink roses and white carnations.

The bride’s matron of honor was her sister, Mrs. Veronica Krueger of Butler. Miss Shirley Romens of Colby, the groom’s sister, and Mrs. Carole Romens of Mt Prospect, Illinois, the groom’s sister-in-law, served as bridesmaids.

The matron of honor’s dress of mint green dotted Swiss and the bridesmaids’ dresses of pastel yellow dotted Swiss were styled similar to the bride’s dress. White picture hats and wrist corsages of yellow green daisies and white carnations completed their attire.

Attending the groom as best man was Leon Romens of Milwaukee. The groomsmen were Norbert Romens of Milwaukee and Duane Romens of Mt. Prospect, Illinois.

Following the ceremony a reception, buffet and dance were held in the Abbotsford City Hall.

The bride graduated from Colby High School in 1969. She is employed by the Herstat-Allen Company in Elk Grove Village, Illinois. The groom is also a 1969 graduate of Colby High School. He is employed by North Central Airlines at O’Hare International Airport in Chicago.

After a wedding trip to northern Wisconsin the couple will be making their home at 1450 Busse Road, Mt. Prospect, Illinois.
