Army Private Russell D. Tischendorf, 20, son of Mrs. Dorothy E. Tischendorf, Colby, recently completed nine weeks of advance individual infantry training at Ft. Polk Louisiana.

During the course he received guerrilla training and lived under simulated Vietnam conditions for five days, fighting off night attacks and conducting raids on enemy villages. He was taught methods of removing booby traps, setting ambushes and avoiding enemy ambushes.

Pvt. Tischendorf is a 1969 graduate of Colby High School.

His father, Alton F. Tischendorf, lives in Stetsonville.
