Thieme, Fred (2 OCT 1877 – 9 NOV 1965)

Funeral services were held Saturday for Fred Thieme, 88, Colby, at Zion Lutheran Church, Colby. Mr. Thieme died Tuesday, November 9, 1965 at the Clark County Memorial Convalescent Home, Neillsville. The Rev. Leroy Urman officiated at the funeral and burial was made in the Green Grove (St. Paul) Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Delbert, Jerome, Giles and Dennis Thieme, David Stremer and Rich Brehm.

Fred Thieme was born in Germany October 2, 1877, coming to this country with his parents when he was 14 years old. The family settled on a farm near Curtiss. He farmed near Curtiss until 1948, when he retired and moved to Colby. Mrs. Thieme died in 1948. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Colby, where he served as an elder.

Surviving are five sons, Alvin, Adolph and Ray, all of Jefferson, Harry of Racine, and Franklin of Colby; four daughters, Mrs. Seymour (Esther) Gustafson of Unity, Mrs. Oliver (Rose) Stammer of Jefferson, Mrs. Elroy (Helen) Brehm of Colby, and Mrs. Victor (Lorraine Multerer of Marshfield; four brothers, Morris of Phillips, Otto of Medford, Ernest of Owen, Alfred of Nashville, Kansas; forty six grandchildren and thirty two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one daughter and one sister.

Relatives present at the funeral included Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Thieme and son, and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Thieme and son, Racine, Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Thieme, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Thieme, Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Stammer, Jefferson, Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Thieme, Racine, Mr. and Mrs. Victor Multerer, Mr. and Mrs. Neil Werner, Marshfield, Mr. and Mrs. Seymour Gustafson, Unity, Mrs. Helen Brehm and family, and Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Thieme of Colby, Mr. and Mrs. Morris Thieme, Mr. and Mrs. John Thieme and family, Phillips, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Thieme and Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Thieme, Medford, Mr. and Mrs. Art Thieme, Owen.

Friends who attended included Otto Kind, Greenwood, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Meyers Sr., Herman Singstock, Mrs. Ida Schiszik, Mrs. Carla Lien, Mrs. Franklin Peissig, Mrs. Anna Tonn, Miss Anita Buchholz, Albert Klessig, John Lokken, Curtiss, and many others from the surrounding areas.
